Winter tires
In Quebec, winter tires are mandatory from December 1 to March 15 for passenger vehicles. When booking, confirm that the vehicle is equipped for the season.
Choose all-wheel drive
All-wheel-drive models offer better traction on snow and ice: the Audi quattro models (S5, RS5, S8), the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC or the BMW M3 Competition xDrive. For the Laurentians or country roads, an SUV remains the safest choice.
Adapt your driving
Sports cars accelerate hard: on slippery roads, use the accelerator gently, increase your braking distances and leave the driver assistance systems on.
Plan for snow removal
Before setting off, clear the vehicle completely, including the roof and the headlights. In Quebec, driving with snow or ice that could come loose from the vehicle is prohibited.
